From Conceptual to Tangible

Something that is not often talked about is the growth of spiritual gifts and the ability to truly feel energy over time

When I first discovered spiritual concepts and ideologies, it sang to my soul and resonated in a way that nothing had before.

However, it was a concept to me at the time. An idea. Not something I could truly grasp onto.

I began studying ancient practices, learning about astral projection, meditation, and energy bodies. Spiritual moments would flicker on and off. I could see auras, but only randomly and I didn’t understand why or what they meant.

But it fed my soul. It gave me something to grasp onto, a glimpse into a larger universe that I wanted more of.

When energy healing came across my path it was a truly pivotal moment for me. It was my first experience with a trained psychic healer and I was captivated. We had just met but she spoke to my soul, validated so many inner feelings I had, and took some of my pain away.

I remember a specific moment where things started to click with me. I believe it was my second session and her hands were hovering above the right side of my forehead.

I could feel a pleasant warmth moving through my skull and hitting what felt like a stiff, energetic wall in my mind. No words were said, but I could feel that she wanted me to relax this stiffness.

I had no idea how, I had never registered my inner energy before. I thought to at least try, and while I felt clumsy doing it I focused on that area and relaxed it like a muscle.

The warmth her palms were emitting flowed in deeper and Linda said out loud “There you go! Good!” This startled me, I had no idea we were truly having a nonverbal conversation until she validated it.

A dam broke open that day and I started to become more aware of subtle energy both inside my body and outside of it. I could feel vibrations coming off a person’s tarot deck when I held it. I could feel an odd tingle when I stood in someones auric field. I could feel inner stiff walls and flowing movement in my body when I meditated,

Still it flickered in and out. I began training with Linda when we both had time and would accompany her while she did sessions and would stand in awe, wondering if I would ever be as in tune as she was.

To become proficient at feeling energy, you do have to practice consistently. Luckily, when you find something you love you can’t help but practice it all the time.

Over the years energy became more and more tangible to me. It grew from a powerful concept to something I could see and feel and work with.

Nowadays, denying my energetic senses would be the same as denying my sense of smell.

It is that tangible, that thick. When someone sits next to me I can feel their aura in a similar way to someone smelling the perfume you wear. Instead of a smell it’s a unique combination of sensations and feelings.

This skill and gift has made the world so much more magical, so much calmer and safer. It has healed my soul and mind and continuously guides me to better health and a better life.

I wanted to share this story because I want you to know that you can develop it too. Not only is this a skill and all skills take time and practice, but it is also a natural part of us that has been suffocated for a few thousand years due to certain oppressive religions and empires. The wiring is still in you, it will just take some commitment and practice to bring it out again.

My advice to you:

1. Yes, you can too
Do not compare yourself to the people who said they’ve always felt and seen energy. I didn’t as a kid and look where I am now.

2. Let it develop in your own way
Do not wish for it develop a specific way, let it unfold naturally. Allow yourself to be so curious about how you connect with energy that you become the constant observer of yourself. The way you perceive energy will be perfect for you. When we try to control it’s development, like only wanting to physically see the energy, then we deeply limit and prohibit its growth.

3. Practice, but don’t feel guilty when you take a break
Consistent practice is key, but remember like the moon we are meant to have phases. Sometimes life demands we are more physical, and other seasons invite us to be more internal. You will feel pulled back to your practices and techniques when it is time to.

4. Observe and analyze everything
When you observe and ask questions to your inner world, you will start to unravel what’s going on. Be so curious without judgement.

An example of this would be say you’re having a great day and suddenly you get hit with a deep sadness – take a moment and ask yourself where it’s coming from. The answer might surprise you. It could say it’s a memory from childhood processing or it could tell you that you just walked through a cloud of someone else’s energy and picked up on some of it.

5. Meditate
Meditation is an easy way to start observing yourself and recognizing energy shifting in your body. It opens up the ability to connect with guides and answers as well. Most of you will do well sitting and meditating, but there are a few energy types (hi red auras) who will literally hate sitting still that long and will do best to meditate while walking or in some sort of movement.

6. No Judgey
So many people get in their own way because they have an experience and don’t know if it’s real or not. They are so worried that it’s not actually real that they’re not enjoying or learning from what is happening.

Here is the thing, you are experiencing SOMETHING. Accept that. Observe it. Feel into it. Ask yourself where it is coming from.

You will have moments of true insight, of true energetic connection, AND you will have moments where your imagination curates things. You can and will learn how to differentiate what is happening IF you let yourself sit in the experience and observe it and allow yourself to be honest with yourself.

7. It grows stronger in time
People often expect that their first visions are going to be very Hollywood-like. They can be, but likely not at first. You are a radio learning to tune into different frequencies, your antenna is currently very weak because it’s never been utilized before. It grows stronger, more vivid, and more complex in time. Just because the vision is blurry does not mean it’s not real.

8. Learning energy healing really does help
Whether you want to be an energy healer or not, it is the easiest way to start growing your gifts. This is because it gives you something practical to work with and towards.

Your ego can get in the way of development. If you develop gifts just to see if you can, you often don’t get very far. But if you develop gifts to help yourself and develop your understanding of the universe you get much, much farther and do so a lot faster.

This is why I created Reiki 1 & an Intro to Energy Healing.

Reiki provides a battery, an amplification that helps us see and work with energy. The course goes so much farther than that by breaking down the intricacies of subtle energy, what it actually is and does and how we grow with it in time. It lays down the foundation for an amazing spiritual practice. You will leave understanding what energy really is and how to form a relationship with it. You will be able to cross the threshold from conceptual to tangible.
